Standards Identification
- Steering committee reviews and submits feedback on reference standards for project
- Final list of standards are identified
May 19 - August 29, 2008
Institutional Recruitment
- All four-year and technical education institutions identify point of contact for study
- A sample of approximately 50 high schools in each region identify point of contact for each school
- All point of contacts identify liaison(s) for ELA, mathematics, and science
July 1 - September 30, 2008
Course Nominations
- All liaisons submit course nominations for syllabus review
September 3 - October 31, 2008
Course Submissions
- Faculty of nominated postsecondary courses submit syllabus online, identifying the reference standards necessary for preparation for entry into college course
- Faculty of nominated high school courses create syllabus online, identifying the reference standards necessary for successfully completing course
October 1 - December 5, 2008
Syllabus Review and Analysis
- Content experts review all submitted syllabi for evidence of reference standards
- EPIC completes analysis to determine where natural alignment may be established between high school and postsecondary courses
- EPIC proposes initial list of potential course pairs by region
October 1 - December 5, 2008
Course Pair Identification and Development
- Steering committee finalizes list of course pairs to be developed by region
- Steering committee nominates members for course pair design teams
- Design teams create performance standards for the paired courses, model syllabi, and sample common performance tasks for each course pair.
