Explanation of the Timeline

Each semester, EPIC works with its partners to create a timeline for administration. All teachers who administer C-PAS tasks register for a secure online account where they can search through the entire bank of C-PAS tasks. Once teachers select a task(s) to administer in their classrooms, they register their choice on the C-PAS online system. If the tasks they chose do not fit seamlessly into the content of their curriculum, teachers may modify the content of tasks. All modified tasks must be submitted online for approval from EPIC.

Once teachers have chosen their tasks, the administration window opens. All teachers are asked to administer C-PAS tasks within this window. Although the task administration window is 6-8 weeks long, no C-PAS task is designed to require more than 4 weeks for students to complete. The length of the task administration window allows teachers the flexibility to give students the C-PAS task at the right place in the curriculum. After task administration ends, teachers have 2-3 weeks to score C-PAS tasks and enter their scores on the online system. In addition to submitting their scores, teachers select 25% of their C-PAS student work to send to EPIC by uploading it on the online system. This sample of student work is scored by scorers who are trained to assess C-PAS tasks. Teachers then receive a report on how well their scores aligned with the scoring moderator.
